Also issued in Europe by Roadrunner (RR ); Wrong spelled on the Labelsticker: Nightmare Theater Interesting fact: the song "Call for the Exorcist" eventually evolved into "Fire of Ecstasy" that would, fifteen years later, appear on Virgin Steele's album "The House of Atreus - Act II" (the songs are different, but some riffs and lyrics are clearly identical).

That album would be by an unknown "band" (read on) called Exorcist, and that album was called Nightmare Theatre. But strangely just what and how that album came to be might be more interesting (might, I say might) than the album itself. Y'see back in the early to mid's was a lead singer/songwriter in New York by the name David Defeis/5(17).

The version edited in Europe by Roadrunner (RR ) has the title misspelt on the labelsticker. It appears as "Nightmare Theater". Interesting fact: the song "Call for the Exorcist" eventually evolved into "Fire of Ecstasy" that would, fifteen years later, appear on Virgin Steele's album "The House of Atreus - Act II" (the songs are different, but some riffs and lyrics are clearly identical).

Oct 14,  · Exorcist are actually American power metal band Virgin Steele (apparently there were some legal wranglings going on between members) and that fact has led some of the more die-hard black-metal fans to look down upon this album, but I think it is a jolly good listen (!) and well worth a spin. Side 1 - 1. Black Mass () 2. The Invocation () 3.

There's a bit of a mid-album lag, but stick around for "Lucifer's Lament". For some reason -- possibly the album cover -- this record always makes me want to watch Return of the Living Dead. Track listing: 1. Black Mass 2. The Invocation 3. Burn Offerings 4. The Hex 5. Possessed 6. Call for the Exorcist 7. Death by Bewitchment 8. The Trial 9.
